Food, fuel and future

Come and meet us at Science Capital's Low Carbon event Food, Fuel and Future, to take place at the Hotel Du Vin, Birmingham from 6pm on 16 Jun 2010, part of Birmingham's 2010 Climate Change Festival.

Speakers will include

Julia King, Vice-Chancellor of Aston University, who will present the latest thinking from the Committee on Climate Change. Julia is a member of the Committee on Climate Change, a member of the Board of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology and was appointed by the Prime Minister in December 2009 as the UK’s Low Carbon Business Ambassador. Ms King's talk will also cover the implications of the Conservative-Liberal Democrat collaboration agreement.

Malcolm McIntosh, who directs the Asia Pacific Centre for Sustainable Enterprise at the Griffith Business School, Queensland, Australia. He will speak on the emerging low carbon economy from the perspective of the Asia Pacific region.

Tim Jones, Molecular Solar chief executive from the University of Warwick and director of the SUPERGEN Excitonic Solar Cells project. Tim is developing third-generation solar cells so light-weight and flexible they can be grafted onto paper-thin material and used to charge mobile phones.

Kevin Kendall, who directs the University of Birmingham’s Fuel Cell Group, spun out Adelan, and is part of the £80million Science City Consortium. He will present on hydrogen fuel cells, whole-systems optimisation and vehicle downsizing as the way forward for low carbon transport.
